General Dynamics LWMMG Mod

General Dynamics LWMMG Mod
Machine Gun ★★★★ She's a better LWMMG, but now with more utility.

She actually gets some fairly hefty stat increases in her mod, with Mod 2 hitting as much FP as M2HB. The issues that 2 stars normally face (low skill values compared to higher ones, etc.) are pretty solved thanks to being upgraded to a 4 star, and it also gives her extra base ammo which helps out a lot. Overall a cheap mod to get, and honestly you get a fair bit of value off even just Mod 1.

She's pretty much an all-rounder MG, and with the Mod 2 skill, technically you're not limited to just SGs, but uh... the shield values are so low otherwise that it only really helps armored things, though I guess some people might find a use for that anyway. MATH BIT: Her Special Equip actually isn't awful, but tbh you're better off with an EOTech in most cases.

Her original form can be found here.

Mossberg M500 Mod

Mossberg M500 Mod
Shotgun ★★★★ For if you want shields very badly and SAT8 isn't enough

She has Python-like activation requirements to pop open free shields, which can be useful for some situations. YMMV overall.

Gsh-18 Mod

Gsh-18 Mod
Handgun ★★★★ Okay-ish, but expensive for what you get

Her Mod 3 unique equip is alright. It lets her punch through lighter armors, and otherwise is excellent at finishing off weakened enemies, rather than wasting full-power shots on them. This is usually a thing with rifles that don't quite instantly giblet their foes. Her tile buffs are pretty okay.

She's alright but not a priority.

Rex Zero 1

Rex Zero 1
Handgun ★★★★ P22 but 4 star and with opposite side tiles.

Another of those HGs that buff based on leadership position, with the Squad Lead getting an alright shield and everyone else getting an FP boost (as opposed to P22 which is positional based). Sometimes you might need that mix. If you do, there you go. Else, she's basically a slightly off-brand P22.

Supernova

Supernova
Shotgun ★★★★ Good to have

Supernova is a shotgun pretending to be a handgun to go along with her shipmate GSh-18. She’s one of the most supportive shotguns available and she enables some real dumb stuff. You want to use MGs at night? Well, her skill allows for that. Do you need a little more defensive capability for your shotguns? She brings that too, all in a kancolle-flavoured package. Honestly, she’s not an automatic pick on every team. You’re likely going to have to drop a MG in your formation to make use of her fully, which can be an issue.

Her two main draws are her movement speed and her MG buffs. Her roller skates allow her to go almost as fast as a handgun, but not quite. Not much else to say about that, but main reason to take her is the MG buffs she provides.

While crit rate is nice, the accuracy buff she provides to MGs is fixed. This means that MGs are entirely usable at night. It bypasses the accuracy penalty that you would normally have with no PEQ. While not the most relevant thing currently, you definitely want to have Supernova in your back pocket for the future.

FABARM SAT-8

FABARM SAT-8
Shotgun ★★★★★ Usable

She's still usable and good enough to deal with older content just fine, but the new shotguns currently available just blow her out of the water so hard. Sad day to be a pizzalion.

That skill happens to be giving your entire front row a 35HP shield, that takes armour into account first. It also has 5/8 uptime. Basically, if your SGs took scratch damage before? They should take literally nil now, unless its a really major fight or you were silly enough to go fight anti-armour enemies.

Howa Type-64 Battle Rifle

Howa Type-64 Battle Rifle
Assault Rifle ★★★★★ Weird niche uses

Aka 64 Shiki if you're a weeb.

She's a bit of a complicated unit in that certain enemy thresholds alter what her skill does, thus making her work better vs bosses (with her colossal 90% FP boost for a few seconds) than for regular encounters. However, the timings are awkwardly short for the big boost, and the 2nd half reduces her firepower a bunch but also buffs the hell out of the stuff in front (which, if it's SR3, means more damage for her.) Note that the skill is less awkward than it seems, as it counts doll groups, rather than individuals, so 5x 5-linked enemies is totally fine, and so on.

Unfortunately, they removed cool tile buff tricks so her potential of giving insane buffs is a lot more limited than before

HS2000

HS2000
Handgun ★★★★★ Shields are nice. She gives shields.

The weirdo, mildly creepy sweet potato. Honestly one of Waterkuma's better designs too. All sorts of adorable and frankly, the best shields you can get. Full party, 42-point shields, with stat buffs if the shield survives. The big thing is she can shield the whole echelon unconditionally, which helps massively for certain attacks like Doppel missile swarms, and can even negate them entirely with a bit of luck, or if you're using FP debuffers. As a result, she's a vital component of many weird teams purpose-built to kill some cheese enemies.

Farm your damned boxes and get her.

Heckler & Koch UMP9 Mod

Heckler & Koch UMP9 Mod
Submachine Gun ★★★★★ Not bad, but also really expensive for what she does

On one hand, she's actually not bad, being a flashbang unit with a solid backup skill (If it's vs. a boss, she becomes a shielder tank instead with some minor evasion buffs) that also helps kill mooks faster. On the other hand, she has a mod3's price tag and opportunity cost, at a time when there's lots of nice mods running around.

If you already have a nice set of mod3 dolls, go ahead. If not, consider saving it for later.

...Oh, and you can save yourself the trouble of getting her mod equip. It's kinda pointless on a tank.

Her previous iteration can be found here

DP-12

DP-12
Shotgun ★★★★★ Pretty good defensive/utility shotgun

Even if she sucked, most of you degens would go after her anyway. Thankfully, she's actually pretty good.

Not quite in the same vein as SAT8, as she only shields herself, but the damage reduction effect allows her and allies to tank a bit harder against shots that exceed her armour value, and yes, that applies to shots that ignore armour outright. So basically if she's on the forward center, then positions 4, 5, and 6 benefit from the DR, and so on.

Because of her passive and the 3 second ICD on her skill, she actually has really good uptime overall (similar to but slightly worse than SAT8), and yes, she can be made to pop her shield more often via shooting faster and going into reload faster (though this can produce an odd gap in uptime past the 13s mark).

CAWS

CAWS
Shotgun ★★★★★ Gimmicky; base stats are cool.

G&K's equal opportunity things means even penguins are accepted, I guess. She has a finnicky, slow, and generally not reliable shield. On the other hand, her gimmick relies on having shields.

She relies quite heavily on outside shields if you want to use her gimmick, so stuff like SAT8 and LWMMG mod will come in handy if you want to do so.

However, while she has good armour, her HP is the worst of the 5 star shotguns, and she doesn't have particularly good tanking gimmicks. She's usable, but probably wont be your first choice unless you want to use her gimmick that badly for whatever fucking reason

Lusa

Lusa
Submachine Gun ★★★★★ Has some funny niche uses, taunt can be useful.

Honestly the part you care about is the damage reduction and taunt, which can be useful depending on the type of enemy you're fighting. She wants very much to be the off-tank, in a classic ARSMG formation, and actually has decent tiles for it.

She is NOT for normal use due to her awful DPS, but the taunt can be useful vs certain enemies in the distance to keep them from interfering with the fight (for example, the new model Army tanks). The taunt can also affect random-target type enemy attacks.

M6 ASW

M6 ASW
Shotgun ★★★★★ A damage dealing shotgun that's actually not a complete meme (YMMV still)

Another one of those funny two-mode dolls. She's actually not an awful damage dealer, but her damage is still less than other dolls that are pure damage dealers. Also, despite having a rifle mode, she can't equip AP rounds so you're stuck with only the AP stats you get from her skill.

She might have use in some formations (mostly shenanigans), but most people probably won't use her.

Sei Asagiri

Sei Asagiri
Handgun Special Niche uses

Everyone's favourite White Knight! (Unless you like Tim better, you weirdo.) Same tiles as Grizzly (literally the same), but with a defensive skill instead of an offensive one. She only shields Shotgun, SMG and HG dolls so it isn't full coverage (unless you're an all HG team anyway), but the ability to shield something like KSG is nice. Her shield actually scales based on how damaged a unit she's shielding is, but the exact formula remains a mystery (less HP = more shield though).

Claes

Claes
Machine Gun Special Extremely accurate to the anime and manga (which is not a good thing)

Props for accuracy. She spends the animoo's story just living in the dorms and only coming out for tests or really weird situations where they cant spare bodies, and she's basically the same in the game - she'll be in your dorms a whole lot. She also has three unique items that affect her passive but otherwise all do the exact same thing. She isn't completely useless, but there's not much reason to pick her over other MGs that don't have finnicky mechanics, because you frankly will not need that many MGs anymore.
