Vile Rats
Objective 1: Rescue and Secure 2 Hostages
Objective 2: Establish and Maintain a Supply Line For 2 Turns
Echelon Limit: 2
Recommended Echelon(s): RF/HG (x2)
Objective 1 Strategy#
For this objective, we have hostages on opposite sides of the map to rescue. We only have two echelons, so we'll have to spread out to grab both of em. There isn't too much to make note of here, since all you really need to do is rush to each of them and rescue. You have two things to look out for. First, you need to pay attention to the one way routes in and out of your circle of Heliports+Command Center. Save yourself the trouble and deploy on the right Heliport and your Command Center. You'll return through the top and left Heliports. Secondly, you have Hydras circling around your starting point. If you're next to one and it can get you, it will. So be careful of that.
Aside from those two things, it's pretty smooth sailing over to the hostages. When you rescue each hostage, be sure to top up your supply of ammo/MREs via the supply node, then make your way back to your Heliports.
Objective 2 Strategy#
This is where the actual mechanics of the map come in. This time we need to run a supply line to your Command Center through that line of Hydras discussed in objective 1. You have a few methods of doing this.
Method 1: Brute force through then. Not recommended.
Method 2: Use the Radar Tower on the top left of the map to do the map as intended. Something about the weak Cyclops echelons next to the hostages to lure Hydras. Decent idea.
Method 3: Use the hostages as bait.
Method 3 is what I'll be covering here since I find it easier to manipulate.
For this method, we'll have one echelon going to establish the supply line one node at a time. The other will be grabbing AK-12 or AN-94 to put into the path of the Hydras. Grabbing the hostage for this is quite similar to objective 1. Simply make your way to the hostage; be sure to mind the Hydras and the one ways. However, instead of rescuing them, you swap them over to open corner of the route of the Hydras. Like so:
This will ensure that the hostage will essentially delete the Hydras as they come into contact with them. From here, you just need to finish the supply line.
The simplest path from the Rally node to your Command Center is through the south exit from your circle of Heliports. I hope you've been working on establishing that supply line with your other echelon. By the time you get the hostage in place, it should be almost done. The last node should be in the danger zone of Hydras, so make sure there isn't any incoming when you grab that node. Just let your hostage take out most of the Hydras to be safe.
Once you get that supply line established, it should be over.
