Operation Defang I Combat II EX

Objective 1: Defeat six enemies and capture designated Radar Tower

Objective 2: Defeat all three Gustavs

Recommended Echelon(s): MG/SG with a taunt fairy, ARs with a SG and a molotov SMG, AR/SMG, Dummy

Objective 1

I wrote objective two first so I get to copy its text here. The entire map is fairly similar, but there's minute differences that will give you the win for objective one.

Alright, we kinda avoided doing much with needing to learn Gustav's mechanics in the last few maps, but now we gotta deal with the real problem: Fighting enemies with Gustav supporting them without relying on a gunboat echelon to carry us to victory. Terrifying. For this objective, we need to kill six enemies and capture a Radar Tower. However, if you note, that marked Radar Tower is under a Gustav train car. So, no escaping it. We need to kill some of Gustav to get it done.

To start us off, deploy your echelon that I'm just gonna refer to as Cyclops buster from now on. The echelon with ARs+SG+Molotov, to be precise. This Cyclops buster is literally just there to kill the stacks of Cyclops that we'll need to deal with. As we have Gustav firing on us, we only have room for three units on the front column, and using a molotov SMG, an AR, and a SG is ideal. The SG will tank the Cyclops while the molotov SMG will pretty much delete most of the stack. The AR, preferably a grenadier, will mop up the remaining enemies.

Anyway, once you have that done, move up to engage the Cyclops above your Command Center. After killing it, deploy your MG/SG echelon and swap with your Cyclops buster echelon. You'll have to deal with the Dactyl echelon coming in to ruin your day on the enemy turn. If you take damage, that's fine, you have plenty of opportunity to repair here. End turn.

Instead of taking the Heliport above our Command Center on turn two, we want it to stay in Military possession. It'll spawn in extra enemies that count towards our kill count. Our opening to get to Gustav is on turn six anyways, so we have time to kill. Thus, we leave our Cyclops buster next to that Heliport, then move our MG/SG to the right, on the Heavy Heliport then deploy an AR/SMG echelon. Swap with your MG/SG echelon here and then end turn.

Turn three is when we'll take the Heliport. Move your Cyclops buster echelon up to that Heliport, and then move to the left one node. We'll catch a Cyclops here. Move your MG/SG up to the Heliport so it'll be under our control. End turn here.

On turn four, move your Cyclops buster and MG/SG to the left one node. We can't have them get attacked here. End turn.

For turn five, move your MG/SG to the Heliport once again. Next turn is our opening to get to Gustav, but for now, a Minotaur is blocking our way and we don't want to alert it.

On turn six, we can move to Gustav. Move your MG/SG to the left, then up into the area the Military is patrolling. Go up another node, then head left until you reach the Gustavs. Take out the first two Gustav train cars and end the turn on the marked Radar Tower, ending the map. If you need assistance with downing Gustav, here is a link to a guide just for that.

Objective 2

Alright, we kinda avoided doing much with needing to learn Gustav's mechanics in the last few maps, but now we gotta deal with the real problem: Fighting enemies with Gustav supporting them without relying on a gunboat echelon to carry us to victory. Terrifying. For this objective, we need to clear out all of the Gustav train bits. But we kinda have a lot of stuff in between our starting point and the path we can take to Gustav. So...let's get this rolling.

On turn two, move both your echelons up one node so we take the Heliport and open up our Command Center. Deploy a dummy echelon on your Command Center and end the turn.

Turn three has another Cyclops roll up on you, so use your Cyclops buster echelon to take it out. At this point we have to play a waiting game until turn six, when we can sneak past all of the really annoying enemies in the top half of the map. Leave your MG/SG echelon on the Supply node and just end the turn there for a bit.

On turn six, we can get through the enemies. Move your MG/SG echelon to the right and up so you're in the area the annoyingly hard enemies patrol. Move up again, then left to the path that leads to the Gustavs. Take them all out. If you don't know how it's done, please take a look at [this] page for how to kill Gustav. 'Cause I'm not copypasting it to every fucking page that needs this.

Once you've killed all three Gustav things on the map, you'll win.
