Honestly, what you should be looking for in a beginning tank SMG. Decent HP pool, good dodge, a smoke grenade that slows enemies, good aura to support an AR squad, really the standard to which you'll hold early tanks to. Overall, probably the best to have for general use until you get RO635 mod.

Can also be used as an Off-tank to support a Force Shield/EVA self-buff (6s initial CD ones) MT, if you don't need (have) the extra offensive bonus of offensive SMG. Smoke grenades help stall the enemy and allow you to get your EVA self-buff up before the enemies start shooting. If you are extremely good at the game, the Smoke Grenade with kiting can help you get your force shield out before the enemy even deals damage to you.
Just make sure you have a good idea on WHY you are using the Force Shield or EVA self-buffer MT in the first place.
