Name | Starting Rarity | Useful? | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Prowler |
★ | Kernels | This, my friends, is why you don't send ricecookers to war. It's flat out awful. Weirdly, the SWAP version is actually really fuckin good. |
Scout |
★ | Mostly Kernels but you may want one or 2? | Weirdly, they're classed as melee units, despite having guns. Their big thing is -50% Enemy Evasion. YMMV |
Ripper |
★ | Passable, but you probably dont want them | You know what I like? SMG performance when I pay SG-like costs. Strictly speaking, their evade is quite high, and their performance is on the high end of SMGs, but you have other options for tanks. YMMV. Personally I've never used these, and frankly there's a better thing on the way anyway (the SWAP Rippers) |
Scarecrow |
★★★ | She's free. Also she's kinda insane utility wise for what you get. | You get her just for unlocking SF Capture, which is good because you need a ringleader to make an effective SF echelon. Also makes her the only one you can get off her normal season. This is still good, because she's actually fuckin good for utility + has good combat stats, and because Executioner fucking sucks. Far from the strongest ringleader for combat, but she's serviceable enough to handle most enemies. Overall: Surprisingly really good for general use. Synergizes well with chips that drive her into enemy territory and lets her capture areas there with Shadow Predator without having to bring a second echelon. Overall super good utility if you can get creative. |
Dinergate |
★ | They're shitty but they're only 2 cost to put in | Remember how effective enemy Dinnergates are? No? Yeah. These aren't much better. They have surprisingly high firepower for a 2 cost unit, but they're not your go-to for anything and dying is still bad. |
Vespid |
★ | Passable, but you have other options | Strictly speaking, theyre quite decent as AR equivalents and I sometimes wonder how SF never won. Honestly they have passable all-round performance. Practically speaking their skill is awful and you have other options, so raising them is kind of a waste unless you already have lots of everything else |
Executioner |
★★★ | Not awful but easily outshined by later SF releases | Strictly speaking she isnt completely awful, but you should be glad Scarecrow is the free SF Ringleader. Her skills are oriented towards damage, damage, and more damage, and dealing it in different ways. Unfortunately she gets the short end of the stick by being a melee unit with a -range skill, meaning it is entirely possible for some enemies to walk past her and she can't do anything about it (hope you have a good backline I guess). Her real problem is Alchemist exists, and when she comes out, basically does her job but better, mostly by tanking almost anything (she can solo Yegor without player input just by outlasting him, which Executioner cant do). Also Hunter comes right after her, and hunter is legitimately a very good unit, which discourages rolling for her on her last weeks. There's a joke her role is to run in and die, and.... yeah it's not entirely innaccurate. She will deal damage before she explodes though. Probably. As long as enemies dont walk around her instead. |
Jäger |
★ | Feared by Yegor, SKK Approved | Hot art (Why dont we get their proper portraits Mica? The damned Aegis do), a big gun, decent performance, low cost, no frills. She's a DPS unit that deals damage. Decent Firepower, High Acc,... surprisingly good evasion for a DPS. The skill she gets is pretty much what SWAP Jaegers torture players with. Also punches through some armor. Good general purpose if you have room in the team. |
Guard |
★ | Not great but kinda usable in numbers | Honestly not the best tank (Think Thompson if she didnt have Invul) but can shield allies (with stacking shields) that last for a few seconds. Surprisingly has good firepower actually, so honestly better as a beatstick than a tank. Still not a great tank. |
Hunter |
★★★ | Boss Killer Extraordinaire. Weak on fights with many enemies. | The strongest single-enemy killer in SF, get her if you can. If you want a boss dead, she can probably AFK solo it. Yes, she can 1v1 Yegor while you're jacking off to something else entirely. For this reason, her best buddies are Manticores - both for taking down pesky minor mobs with their powerful AoE attacks, and because of their skill synergy with her - their debuff works for her skills. |
Dragoon |
★★ | Waste of good Biker-Girl Robot Art (Kernels) | She has high HP, Moderate Eva, and no armor. As a tank, you'll find she melts considerably faster than similar G&K units. |
Jaguar |
★ | If you need AoE for some reason and need it on a budget | Let's get this out of the way quickly. It has godawful single-target DPS, and in most cases where you need cleave, Manticores can do the job. However, they're cheap to field, you can get them easily, and some of you might not have enough Manticores. The AoE attack is surprisingly much bigger than it seems (roughly the size of a grenade's AoE) and with boosts from a Ringleader that can buff it, it's not that bad. However, it's also not especially great otherwise. It does, however, have really long range that it can contribute to a formation if nothing else. YMMV. |
Nemeum |
★★ | Decent DPS. Bring along if you have room. | Your primary armored DPS that isn't a Manticore. In most cases, a Manticore is scarier, but these guys have consistent output and are also armored. And unlike Manticores, you get all 5. You can think of them as armored Jaegers that do better vs high HP enemies and same-ish or worse vs. lower HP enemies. The big thing about them is their skills. They get bonus damage based on how much max HP a target has, and they can drive their own crit rate up as they keep firing. They do however, apparently have defective targeting systems, so you NEED something else like a Jaeger to provide range, because otherwise they're kind of not going to spot anything to shoot. |
Aegis |
★★ | Generally Really Good | They have an HP shield, and at 4 stars can reduce damage taken for both themselves and allies in the same row. What's not to like? Surprisingly good (61) Evasion at Max, and good Armor (more than a typical SG), and honestly their main issue is relatively low damage and being melee. Which is not really a huge issue for tanks on the front row. Aside from that, theyre basically mostly SGs that beat things with sticks. Do note that unlike SGs, you cant easily raise their stats with things like formation buffs, fairies and the like. |
Manticore |
★★ | Insanely good for what you pay | Probably the closest to a top-end all-rounder. It has armor. It has good stats. It withstands AoEs really well due to being a single unit, and it has two very nice skills. Now the big thing that is unlike enemy Hydras, your Manticores only have 30 armor. However, they pack the same short range explosive blast hydras do (And they have 500+ base attack power so it'll hurt masses of light enemies when they do it), and uniquely, a pushback skill with a 10 second cooldown that reduces enemy movement speed and rate of fire. Not always the best solution, but it's the true waifu of the game. |
